SHARON’S “CIRCLE TRACK SHOWDOWN” A GO FOR SATURDAY FEATURING SNOWMOBILES, ATVs & SIDE-BY-SIDES By Mike Leone January 22, 2015 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (Hartford, OH)…Sharon Speedways fourth annual “Circle Track Showdown” featuring Snowmobiles, ATVs, and Side-by-Sides is a go for this Saturday, January 24! Mid-week snow coupled with the track crew working hard to move snow onto the surface gave the event an official green light late Thursday afternoon. The Side-by-Sides and ATVs will be back in action for the second straight year in addition to the following snowmobile classes in both independent front suspension and leaf: 400cc and under, 401-500 cc, 501-600cc, 601-700cc, 701-800cc, 801cc+ & mods, along with the vintage sleds. Competitors must be 14 years of age due to insurance requirements. Helmets are required, while suits, gloves, chest protectors & tethers are highly recommended. Sled and/or rider must be visibly numbered! Each class will run heats and a feature. Drivers will be permitted a few warm-up laps. There will be no cash prizes as winners will receive trophies only. Hay bales will be setup around the 3/8-mile track. Admission is just $5 for an all-access facility pass, which includes both grandstands and pits! Gates will open at 9 a.m. with racing at 11 a.m. The registration fee will be $25 for all competitors per class. The inaugural event held in 2011 saw a packed grandstands of eager fans brave bitter cold temperatures with the wind chill well below zero and watched over 100 snowmobile competitors put on a quite a show. In 2012, it took three tries before a last minute snowstorm allowed the event to take place that featured nine different winners in 11 classes. No snow forced the event to be cancelled three times in 2013. Last year, over 80 competitors participated as the ATVs and Side-by-Sides were added. Sharon Speedway is owned by the Blaney, Weller, and Kirila Families and is a 3/8-mile dirt track located on Custer-Orangeville Road in Hartford, Ohio near the intersection of Routes 7 & 305.
