SHE WAS, IS AND WILL BE MY HERO So many years ago, yeah, everybody has their own past. Mine in point is the year 1996. I was barely a decade old on earth, full of life and crazy adventures. This day, i was with my parents at the foots of our countryside farm watering vegetables from water drawn directly from a fast flowing river. The same river we used to wade, swim and drink water from. With my spirit to work and make my parents feel proud of the first fruits of their labour (Im a firstborn by the way), i was struggling with dipping a ten litre container in the water hopefully that Id draw water enough to water at least ten freshly planted seedlings. Then the unexpected happened. The empty container refused to draw water, bouncing backing from the deep silent water and in turn, plunging me to the river. I cant recall how i felt, but all i can i say is. That would have been, for me, thy kingdom come early if not of my mum who, mindless of how she could too be swept coupled with the love and the pain to having see her first born boy just go that way, jumped into the water.She luckily grabbed me underneath water before i had gone and threw me outside as people watched with their hearts on their stomachs. After that, i remember my dad helping her out of the neck deep water. She got out so weak, so shocked, shivering but happy. I was saved she was very safe. I was helped draw water from my now tight tummy. When my mother passed on a decade later. To me it was so devastating. Ive never gotten in terms with the awry fact that she had to go that early. But all i know is, she was, is and will be my all time hero. She saved my life which she never saw live past twenty. Sorry i cant go past there but thats MY HEROS story. Have a fun filled heros day.
