SHEFFIELDS RECYCLING CENTRES GO ON STRIKE Staff at recycling - TopicsExpress

SHEFFIELDS RECYCLING CENTRES GO ON STRIKE Staff at recycling centres in Sheffield have gone on strike in a dispute over pay and conditions. Twenty eight GMB union members at Shirecliffe and Beighton walked out after more than 90% of GMB members at the citys five sites voted to strike. Further industrial action is due on Monday and from 10 to 14 October at citys five waste recycling sites. These include Blackstock Road, High Green and Deepcar as well as Shirecliffe and Beighton. The council-owned sites are run by Veolia, which subcontracts to the Green Company. Veolia said: Despite proposed industrial action, the household waste recycling centres at Shirecliffe and Beighton will be open and operating as normal. Veolia said it was encouraging discussions with the Green Company to resolve any issues as quickly as possible.
