SHERIFF’S OFFICE - CORRECTION OFFICER NOTICE OF EXAMINATION Hours: Full-Time - Rotating Shifts – Days, Swing, Graveyard Closes: January 31, 2014 The Carbon County Sheriff’s Office will be compiling a roster from which qualified individuals may be selected when openings for Correction Officers occur. Utah law requires competitive examinations to determine the qualifications of applicants. The examination will be designed to fairly test the mental and physical ability and knowledge of the applicants in regards to this position. Processes inmates in & out of jail. Responsible for internal security, maintains records, transport inmates. Must complete physical fitness test. Applicants who qualify to take the examinations must score at least 70% on the written aptitude test and pass an oral test. Applicants for the examination process must be a minimum of 21 years of age and citizen of the United States. Applicants will be disqualified if they have been convicted, as defined under Utah law, of (a) any felony; (b) any Class A Misdemeanor; (c) domestic violence; (d) Class B Misdemeanor DUI within the last five years; or (e) any criminal offense involving moral turpitude.
