SHOES, SHOES, SHOES! We need your gently worn shoes. Dress shoes, tennis shoes, athletic shoes, any kind of shoes - the youth at Long Branch Baptist Church will be starting a shoe collection drive February - we will then turn the shoes over to an organization that sends them to developing nations for people without shoes or to turn the shoe by-products (leather, rubber, etc.) into other items. The company will them pay us 40 cents per pound for the shoes and we in turn will use that money to purchase additional food for our hunger relief/food packaging program. Please gather shoes that you were going to discard as part of your spring cleaning and hold on to them - we will make arrangements to pick them up and we will be having drop off locations soon. Check with your friends, kids athletic teams, work place lost and found boxes - anywhere or anybody that may have shoes that were going to be discarded. We would like to collect at least 5000 pairs of shoes by the end of May.
