SHOFARDEVOTION 01/10/2014 IN PURSUIT OF INTIMACY #3 Romans 9:33; As it is written, Behold I lay in Sion a stumbling and rock of offence and whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. The men of old, by reason of nature had a limitation on access to the things of the spirit. They were only but living souls; incapable of carrying, let alone comprehending the fullness of God. As such, for those that searched and inquired into what was to come, the revelation was that it was not for them. They operated in the graces of simply stumbling. The man that simply stumbles might not have the revelation of the experience. He might even seek to build a monument because of the excitement of the moment because the word has not illuminated his spirit enough to see past an experience and seek more. However, this ought not to be so for the New Testament creature. We have been called past the places of simply stumbling to the places of acquaintance. The language of the scripture is behold i lay The reason why it has to be beheld was so the man doesnot have to stumble. He was not to dash his foot against the stone because there is a charge given to the angels to watch over him. But this watching is more than the provision of protection but the very experiences of men like John the revelator, of whom the Angel guides through his walk about zion.
