SHOFARDEVOTION 12/02/2014 #OF THE UNSEARCHABLE THINGS [1 Cor 2:9-10]; But as it is written, eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. But God has revealed them unto us by his Spirit. When God tells Abraham, look northward, Southward, East ward and Westward. For all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed forever, this is very much dependent on the mans ability to see. However, God desires that we go past the point of how far you can see to how he can see. Here, there is no question of how far because the ability of God to see cannot be measured. The divine agenda is not dependent on how far the man can go by reason of how much of what God is doing that he can contain. Rather, it is entirely what God can do because he has placed an ability in the mans spirit to hold the very fullness of God. We can see this distinction in the Pauline conversion. When the Lord meets him, his question is, Lord, what will thou have me do? It is different from,Lord, what can I do for you? God seeks to take us past the place of our ability, past our searching, even past the place of the senses. Spiritual exercise is good. A man can exercise his sight, his hearing, his sense of smell only to a certain limit. A man can search out. But there is more. That is why the scripture says, the Lord has revealed them to us by his spirit for his spirit searches out the deep things of God. This is past the man searching; past the man doing. No eye has seen and no ear has heard is entirely a God affair.
