SHOOTING AT S.C. STATE UNIVERSITY: ORANGEBURG (AP) — S.C. State campus in Orangeburg is currently on lockdown following a shooting of a male student on campus earlier this afternoon, according to university officials. Sonja Bennett, the vice president for the Office of External Affairs, said there is not a shooter on campus. Police are in pursuit of the person they suspect is the shooter, according to Bennett. Elizabeth Mosely-Hawkins, the universitys director of public relations, said the student was shot in the Hugine Suites on the Orangeburg campus. South Carolina State University is a historically black university with about 3,200 students in Orangeburg, about 40 miles south of Columbia.
