SHOOTMedia, The SHOOT! UFC Firas Zahabi: I think Georges St. Pierre will be back Georges St. Pierre left MMA and then got injured, but his coach still believes hell come back. (Jason Silva-USA TODAY Sports) Georges St. Pierre took a leave of absence and vacated his welterweight world title after winning a controversial decision over Johny Hendricks last March. Then, GSP tore his ACL while working out. Now, the former long-time champion faces his second difficult and long recovery from major knee surgery in the past four years, just in order to be a healthy, functioning guy again. Even so, the fighters friend and head coach, Firas Zahabi, believes that Rush will make a come back to the UFC Octagon. I think so, Zahabi said in a recent interview with MMA Fighting. According to the Tri Star Gym head trainer, St. Pierres injury has motivated him to prove that he can return and win again in the UFC. St. Pierre has said that his motivation has lessened over his past few fights but Zahabi still sees a fire in the fighters eyes. I think there’s a lot of fire left in him, he said of St. Pierre. Especially since he got injured, he’s more motivated than ever. He’s was just about to start sparring again before he got injured. I think there’s a lot of martial arts left in him. Are you excited to see a reenergized and recovered St. Pierre back in the cage? Let us know in the comments section!
