SHOPLIFTING ARRESTS A 32 year old man and a 30 year old woman have been arrested and charged with shoplifting. The offence took place earlier this week, when the pair entered a shop posing as customers. They then approached the meat aisle and concealed numerous meat products inside carrier bags, following which they walked out of the shop with the bags, and without offering any payment for the goods. Officers identified the pair from CCTV footage. Police regularly conduct sweeps through the town centre to target shoplifters. One of these sweeps took place yesterday and members of the public may have noticed the presence of a number of uniformed officers around the town centre. During the sweep, officers from the town centre beat team prevented one man from stealing sandwiches, although he did not seem to understand why no-one else would want to buy them after they’d been down his trousers! A woman was arrested after apparently deciding that her bail conditions (not to enter any retail premises in the town centre) were just a suggestion, and a man was arrested on suspicion of theft.
