SHORELINE UPDATE According to news reports, the Shoreline Drive re-alignment project is very near completion. These photos of the new Shoreline were taken on Friday, Jan 16. At the north end of the soon to be two way street, it will re-enter Shoreline beside the seawall just beyond the Art Centers gardens and just before reaching the Lawrence Street T-head (see last photos). The City Council has still not decided what to do with the section of Shoreline from the First Methodist Church to Lawrence Street which will be closed to traffic when the project is completed (completely removed, partially open to emergency vehicles and bikes, etc.) Whatever they decide, the days of driving on that part of Shoreline beside the water (as weve done since 1941) are numbered. This morning, I set a video camera on the dash and recorded one of my last drives down that stretch....just to remember what it was like!
