SHORT TERM UPDATE (5:11PM): If you are northwest, west, or southwest of Boston, you may notice some larger clouds with irregular darker bases. This is being caused by some energy and slightly colder air above where warmer air has kept cumulus clouds from growing too tall most of the day. A light shower has developed west of Boston near I-495 and is part of a parade of what may become a string of showers moving southeastward between I-495 and I-95 west to south of Boston during the next hour or so. In addition, a sea breeze boundary which is moving southwestward across Metro Boston will reach this area during the 5PM hour and may enhance the development of some of these showers as it provides additional focus and lift for clouds to grow. A heavier shower or even thunderstorm is not out of the question, so keep an eye to the sky into early evening.
