SHORT TRACT CEMETERY . . . New York State. Thursday morning, June 13, 2013. jwa p.s. Jacob Washburn, my great, great Grandfather. My sister Janet Elaine has done extensive research on our family genealogy. Years ago I had seen photographs of the cemetery entrance and the two Washburn headstones. As I was following the GPS that Thursday morning, heading to Mumford Historic Village, this cemetery appeared on my right (Short Tract, just like the photo.) I jumped out into the light rain, camera in hand. I did not have the time, but to only make a quick pass through...heading to the oldest markers in the cemetery. I enjoy viewing the detailing of the engravings found there on. On my way back to the car, I made a brisk walk through my departing path. I thought it would be nice to find my Great, Great Grandfather, but I did not have the time to go on a wild goose hunt amongst the 2,000 markers. About 400 feet from the entrance, with a continuing sweep of glances, my eyes locked onto FATHER - JACOB WASHBURN...I was standing 5 feet in front of his marker. Now tell me, is that a call from the dead, or what!
