SHORTYS STORY - ONE OF THE OLDEST SURVIVING TEMPLE DOGS. 12 year old Shorty was the subject of a horrible attack by a pack of aggressive male temple dogs in Sapan Hin, Thailand. Poor Shortys face was ripped open including his right eye. Following the attack Shorty disappeared for almost a week, as dogs do when they are going to die. Headrock Dogs Rescue team searched for Shorty but he was sadly nowhere to be found. Then one morning the Abbot phoned to say Shorty had returned to the temple with his eye socket & wounds on his body heaving with maggots. Shorty had made his way back to the temple, collapsed on arrival and was unconscious outside the Abbots gate!. Headrock Rescue rushed Shorty to the vet and then cared for him at their center for 2 months. Shorty cried a lot during this period and was obviously in a lot of pain. Slowly he started to struggle and lift his little head, and eventually he was able to sit again. Each day Shorty improved a little and he never gve up. Eventually Shorty was returned to the Abbot and now lives a trouble free life with a group of small dogs outside the Abbots residence. Shorty is likely the temples oldest resident at 12 years of age. This is pretty unusual in the survival statistics on Temple dogs, many of whom don’t live beyond 5 years. K9Aid wants to help support older dogs like Shorty. Old dogs often find life tough and we need to be able to help shelters like Headrock care for dogs like this when they fall ill or suffer tragic injury. HELP support Shorty & his friends.
