SHOULD I WAX MY RANGER OR NOT? Since I have posted yesterday a post about using JOY detergent on this forum so many are asking me what about the wax on the paint? Will JOY damage the wax. Well read all this post before coming to that conclusion Firstly you should not be using a WAX polish on a new car. Every time you wax your car, you make ultra-fine scratches on it, especially if its close to being brand-new. You cant usually see the scratches unless youre in the right angle in the sun. Wax causes build up of polymer, silicon and other residues which does make your paint look shiny but it does not reveal the true shine of the paint. And if you have too much build up and your car is exposed to too much sun like in the Philippines it can permanently damage your paint in the long run. Now I did not say not to polish your car but to use the right polish! A new car only needs to be polished not waxed. WAXING is usually for old cars then need to look good on the sales yard but even old cars can look as good as new without using polish that contains wax. The best polish to use on a new car is 3M HAND GLAZE, this polishes your car and leaves a very fine film without any build up. If you have many scratches then use 3M SCRATCH REMOVER using it lightly with a buff then using the 3M glaze over it. The 3M HAND GLAZE will bring out the full natural shine of your paint without leaving a build up of residue and in the long run will cause your paint to last longer. All new paintwork should last a minimum of 10yrs before the paint starts to show any affect of wear. Now if you have a new car and only drive it once a month and keep it garaged then yes use a wax polish if you want. WAX is usually good for cars only for display! (but personally I use a non wax polish) Now concerning the issue with JOY Dishwashing Liquid damaging your paint that’s just not true, JOY does remove any build up of wax on your paint which is a good thing! But it doesn’t damage your paint in any way it only keeps it clean from wax build up. But you should polish your car with a non wax polish every few months Me I wash my car with JOY only when its dirty and I polish ALL cars with 3M HAND GLAZE. So in short do you want a cheap shine? Then use wax! If you want a quality shine then use a non wax polish its really up to you. But paint will last longer with a non wax polish than a polish containing wax in the long run! And I have no problem using branded car wash detergents, but for me I will stick with JOY because its my personal preference. Now you can Google online and prove everything I had said in this post wrong. But I have used this method on all car brands, NEW CARS AND ESPECIALLY SHOW CARS. And until now I have never seen or noticed any damage at all to the paint. But once I sold the car that’s when the paint got damaged because the buyer did not do what I told him to do to maintain the paint on the car. I hope this helps anyone out their and when I can I will continue to put up posts to help others maintain their car the best possible way. God Bless You All.
