At some point the Democratic West will have to consider proscribing Islam in their countries. Islam is a group of people who hold the most antidemocratic, barbaric, homophobic, misogynist and violent views. You cannot hide behind something just because you call it a religion. Nazism and its propagation is banned in Germany, if they resurrected it as a religion would they have to accept it? Not likely! Please dont come back saying its just a few nutters. It isnt, death sentence fatwas on critics of Islam are widely supported throughout the world. In Pakistan a politician is murdered by his security guard just for raising the issue of death sentences for blasphemy. There were huge rallies supporting him. When he arrived in court rose petals were spread at his feet. Who by? The court lawyers thats who! Organisations can be proscribed and this one should be. We have tried the lets live with it and they will ameliorate their views over time and it has not worked. Indeed their views are getting more extreme and they are following it up with more and more violence to enforce their views. Proscription and the closure of all Mosques and Madrassas will cause problems but over time these will reduce. The alternative will cause increasing problems not a reduction. Just hoping that they are going they are going to come round to some sort of liberal views in the future as they live in the liberal West is a forlorn hope. The sign of madness is continuing to do the same thing over and over again in the expectation that you will get a different result. Maggie
