SHOULD NEW PARENTS GET HOME SAFETY VISITS? Should social workers be able to go into the homes of new parents to make sure they’re safe? Under new plans from safety campaigners, snoopers will be able to routinely visit new mums and dads to check for dangers like steep stairs or sharp edges on furniture. Campaigners say the visits will prevent thousands of accidents. But is this another invasion of our privacy - not to mention an affront to our common sense?
