SHOULDER TO CHEST = PERFECTLY LEGAL The Penguins-Rangers game - TopicsExpress

SHOULDER TO CHEST = PERFECTLY LEGAL The Penguins-Rangers game Saturday was very entertaining, WWE-style false finish duly noted. It was a TOUGH hockey game. Tough, not dirty. Exhibit A: Evgeni Malkin’s hit on Dan Girardi was CLEAN. Girardi wasn’t hurt. Girardi stayed down on the ice because he was embarrassed. He got lit up by a skill guy. Malkin didn’t hit Girardi’s head. Shoulder to chest. Perfectly legal. Every Ranger on the ice immediately went after Malkin. Malkin and the Rangers’ Marc Staal each got roughing penalties. No way that should have come out even. The Rangers definitely should have received an extra two minutes. It’s a disturbing trend in hockey: If you throw a big, clean check, you’ve too often got to fight. If it’s a dirty hit, stick up for your teammate. If it’s a clean hit, tell your teammate to keep his head up.
