SHOW HORSE Magazine is saddened to hear the passing of JOHN EVERETT MOBLEY ( 1943-2014) John Everett Mobley of Union Point, Georgia, died December 2, 2014 at age 71. Born in Gastonia, N.C., John attended elementary school there and graduated from Bass High School in Atlanta. After attending West Georgia College, he joined the Atlanta Police Department and later the DeKalb County Police Department In 1965 John married Mary Lynn White. John worked part-time at the J J. Klatz Harness Company during his years on the Police Department. When Johnny Klatz retired in 1967, John started Mobley Harness and Saddle Shop which served Saddlebred and Walking horse barns throughout Georgia and the Southeast..He not made equine harness and saddlery, but harness for Ringling Brother’s elephants and raindeer harness for Santa’s helpers. John selected,put together, trained and exhibited four horse hitches for Heritage Bank. He was a well known and appreciated judge of mules and draft horses. He loved roadsters and always had one or two “good ones” for sale in his barn. He is survived by his wife of fifty-one (51) years, Mary Lynn White; his mother Faye Skipper Sutt of Logansville, GA; a daughter Mary Ann Mobley; two sons, Will David Mobley of Auburn, GA; and Jason Baxter Mobley (Ellen); two brothers; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. A memorial service was held December 4th at Grace Fellowship Baptist Church where John had served both as a deacon and elder. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Grace Fellowship Baptist Church, 109 West Broad Street, Greensboro, Georgia, 30642
