SHOW THE WAY Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted there by the devil. For forty days and forty nights he fasted and became very hungry. (Satan tempted Christ during the 40 days. Each time Christ responded with Scripture) “Get out of here, Satan,” Jesus told him. “For the Scriptures say, ‘You must worship the lord your God and serve only him.’ ” Then the devil went away, and angels came and took care of Jesus. (Matthew 4:1, 2, 10, 11 NLT) Appalled by the rising illiteracy rate in the United States, the government decided to launch a campaign to get people to read. One of the brainstorms of the official campaign was to place a sign on all the buses of San Francisco: Illiterate? Write today for free help. Needless to say, the campaign did not improve matters much because those who needed help could not read the sign! God understood from the beginning that posting signs for spiritual illiterates will not suffice. Therefore, he planned to send His own Son into the world to show men how to live. Christ then died and rose again so men could be free from the power of sin and death. No other way would work. Earthlings simply could not read and understand the signs of the Law or the prophets. They had to be shown. So Christ came. Looking at the earthly life of our Lord, we learn so much about how to live. We learn one of the most powerful lessons from the way He handled temptation. Satan attacked Him when He was weak and hungry. Yet Christ rebuffed the attacks of Satan by skillful use of Gods eternal Word. Against such testimony, Satan does not have a chance. Let us begin to look closely at every situation in the life of our Lord and learn how we, too, are to act and react. Copyright © 2008-2014 LifeChurch.tv All rights reserved
