SIGN OF THE TIMES: Several cities in Utah are passing or revising panhandler laws. Ive never seen so many people begging on street corners in all the years Ive lived here. Its gotten so bad, there have been traffic accidents caused by good Samaritans who brake to give the beggar a handout. This is one more sign of the REAL state of our nations economy; this year, the Social Security increase is a mere 1.2 percent. Its the SMALLEST increase since SS began many decades ago. Do you REALLY think the cost of food, water, electricity and natural gas only went up 1.2 percent last year? When I post these things, Im mainly doing this for my younger family members, but all of us would do well to tighten our spending, pay off and avoid debts. Try to save 10 percent of your income for emergencies. Everyone experiences bad times now-and-then.
