SILVER RIVER (1948) Directed by Raoul Walsh Cast: Errol Flynn as Michael J. Mike McComb Ann Sheridan as Georgia Moore. The film was based on a novel by Stephen Longstreet. Silver River was the seventh Flynn vehicle directed by Raoul Walsh; it would also mark the last time they worked together.Raoul Walsh agreed to take on direction, determined to keep the films star Errol Flynn on a short leash. Flynn had gained an infamous reputation in Hollywood for his behavior and drinking habits. The movie was shot in Warner Bros studio and on location in Bishop City, California. Flynns on set behaviour was bad and he and Walsh never worked together again. A sad way to end a long professional and personal relationship. This film was Ann Sheridans last Warner Bros. film under her contract. ****This western film is an unusual one. In this case this movie is a bit of a downer. Something very important is missing. Flynns character, Mike McComb is in no way likable. He is without humor, and, except for anger, without energy, or enthusiasm. without any positive emotion. We dont sympathize with him. We dont care if he repents.
