SIMONE FAGGIOLI TRIUMPHS IN GUBBIO The Tuscan driver celebrates his 10th victory of the Umbrian race. Simone Faggioli, on his Norma M20 FC with Marangoni/Le Cont tyres and Zytek Armaroli EFI engine, wins in Gubbio with the total time of 3’08”36 the Trofeo Fagioli’s 49th edition, first race of the final rush of the Italian Hill Climb Championship. Behind him, detached of 2”17, Christian Merli on Osella PA2000. Third place for Paride Macario on Lola B99. Due to the abundant rain, the saturday heat runs did not permit to Faggioli to test the race set up with slick tyres, but everything went in the best way and since then he has been maintaining the leadership in the Italian Championship classification. At the end of the event the organization committee gave Simone a special trophy to celebrate the ten victories of Faggioli himself in the gold book of the Gubbio race. Also Norbert Santos, Norma’s chairman, was at the race, together with friends and supporters, to sustain the team in a challenge that announced to be complex and hard-fought. Simone Faggioli stated at the end of the race: «I’m really satisfied of this result that permits an important step forward in the classification. Thanks to my team and with the help of Norma, Marangoni and LeCont we made a great team work and we succeeded in winning. I knew we would have fought on a tenths edge. Once again my congratulations to Merli and Osella who are always very competitive». Even if he has already won the european championship with a 2 races’ advance Simone Faggioli will be in Bistrica (Slovenia) on august 30th and 31st, second to last CEM race, to test some solutions for the other 2 final races of the italian Championship.
