SINT MAARTEN:PHILIPSBURG, St. Maarten - The Customs Department on St. Maarten has been experiencing some success as of late in their efforts to combat drug trafficking. On Tuesday at the Princess Juliana International Airport, customs Officers searched the cargo belly of an Insel Air flight from Curacao connecting on to Santo Domingo. As a result of this search, the officers discovered 100 kg of cocaine seemingly contained in three big bags which was taken from the aircraft.Also taken from the aircraft were two passengers a male and female from the Country of the Dominican Republic.The arrested passengers and cargo were destined for the Country of Santo Domingo. It is said by sources that the passengers originated from the island of Bonaire then connected on an Insel Air flight from Curacao to Santo Domingo via St. Maarten where they were intercepted. There has been no confirmation from Justice officials about the discovery on Tuesday.
