SIR ARTHUR CONAN DOYLE: The inventor of casually sitting on a chair sideways and Sherlock Holmes, Sir Arthur went to university with Robert Louis Stevenson, played on the same cricket team as JM Barrie and rather wonderfully was one of the earliest motorists in Britain, buying a car without ever having driven one. As for his writing abilities, lets hand over to Doctor Who and Sherlock writer Steven Moffat: When it came to villains and mystery and heroes and adventure, theres never been anyone to touch Sir Arthur.
