SISTER RASHEEDA HANEEF TO SPEAK AT THE IMAM KHOMEINI CONFERENCE The daughter of a Christian family, Rasheeda Haneef embraced Islam in 1984 while being an undergraduate student at York University in Toronto, Canada. She was drawn to Islam and particularly to the Ithna Ashari Shia school of thought through the activism of Shia youth energised by the victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran. After graduation she travelled to Iran with her husband and two small children to live and study in Qom where they remained for 19 years. There she became active in various fields, authoring a number of children’s books about Islam, editing books, writing and recording Islamic content for educational software programs and as a presenter for television and radio programs. She now resides with her family in London.
