And it was his second time around. Originally adopted out of this shelter, he showed up as a stray and his confinement began again. Rocky made it easily through his medical and behavioral exam and landed in adoptions, patiently waiting for someone to notice his handsome, smiling face. He developed a legion of fans among volunteers and staff. Time passed, with adopters passing Rocky by and then, an unfortunate incident. Rocky was bitten by another dog in our charge. It was a minor bite, but involved a DOH hold which forced him out of adoptions for a ten day period. When it was finally time once again for Rocky to make his way back upstairs, he was unraveling a bit, too active and vocal to present well to the public. Staff and volunteers made sure to exercise him regularly and work with his anxiety issues until Rocky decompressed enough to return to his previously manageable, animated self. He got the extra time he needed and landed back in the adoption ward. Once again he patiently waited for someone to notice his handsome, smiling face. He remained healthy, spirited, eager to play ball and go for walks with his many fans. Until now, the inevitable. Rocky has been diagnosed with kennel cough. After over 2 months of anticipating that he would find his forever home, after 2 months of developing solid relationships with so many, Rocky needs that one person now who can offer him a new beginning. He is too full of life and has waited too long. Any other outcome seems unimaginable. Please consider this big, beefy boy. Rocky has handled his time here like a trooper and his ride to freedom cant come soon enough. This is our first hope for the new year.
