SLDB to woo potential investors from Brunei KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Land Development Board (SLDB) officials will be visiting Brunei soon to carry out detailed discussions with the business community from the Sultanate who are keen to carry out joint ventures with the state-owned agency. Brunei investors are particularly interested in the agriculture and livestock sectors, as well as oil and crude palm oil, Brunei Darussalam Consul-General Daud Tahir said recently. He told an SLDB delegation that Brunei was keen to have trading activities that included fruits and vegetables, beef and mutton supply, as well as activities related to the oil palm industry. Towards this end, he would be arranging for more detailed discussions between Brunei investors and officials from SLDB as many from the Sultanate have expressed the desire to work with SLDB. The seven-member SLDB delegation was led by its general manager Jhuvarri Majid, corporate advisor Ag Mohd Saufi Limuddin and Business Development manager, Taha Sulaiman. Jhuvarri said SLDB would plan a visit to the Sultanate not too long from now. He said SLDB had a number of projects that would be of interest to the Brunei investors. “We have numerous investment opportunities readily available and as long as you share similar interests and aspirations as we do, we can talk to you,” said Jhuvarri. A Sabah delegation led by state secretary Datuk Sukarti Wakiman visited Brunei in April this year and this was reciprocated by a visit comprising officials from the Brunei Investment Agency in May. The visit was a courtesy call by the SLDB officials and a follow-up visit of sorts.
