SLEEPING DOES NOT MAKE YOU GAIN WEIGHT Increase in body weight (or becoming fat) is due to the accumulation of lipids in the adipose tissues of your body. These lipids are used by the body to generate energy for use. But the breakdown of fats (triglycerides)for energy occurs when carbohydrates are depleted in the body. In times when there is depletion of glucose in the body (when you are alseep), these triglycerides in the adipose tissues are broken down into free fatty acids to produce energy. This is how your body burns fats when you sleep. So to an extent, it means that the more you sleep, the more fats you burn! Sleep more and lose weight.
