SMARTPHONE ETIQUETTE DURING & AFTER A DATE - Even if your date has his/her phone out, you should not follow suit. Your date needs to know your complete focus is on him/her, and if your phone lights up with a text, it wont be. - Never take a picture of your date unless your date has asked you to do so. If youre asked, be sure to get final approval of the requested photo then delete all photos that didnt make the cut. - If you get an important call, apologize and excuse yourself to take the call (but stay in view). Make it quick. - Apps, pictures and videos are great for supplementing stories and as conversation starters. Only use if your date shows excitement to view them. - Dont tag your date on Facebook places or Foursquare. No need to invite outside opinions from mutual friends or be perceived as more interested in badges. - No blogging or micro-blogging about the date, even if you only have positive things to say. - Thank you texts are appropriate but not necessary. - Dont friend request on Facebook just yet. The longer you can hold out before involving each others social networks, the better.
