SMEs to receive more support : The Autumn Statement will include a package of support for SMEs worth £900m, with additional financing power being made available to the British Business Bank. The Treasury has pledged £400m to extend Enterprise Capital Funds - government-backed venture capital funds which invest in fast growing SMEs. It also said it would guarantee up to £500m of new bank lending to SMEs, and would extend the Funding for Lending scheme for another year. The Chancellor said: It is right that we focus the schemes firepower on small businesses, which are the lifeblood of our economy.
