SNAKE UPDATE: Heres the latest quick report. Picking up Harvey in about an hour as he is flying back into Chicago this evening. Hes had a big setback. About a week ago his forehead flap from last surgery got infected…whats even worse one side became completely disconnected. He saw his personal doc in San Francisco and got some meds for infection which is better. The bad news is he emailed a photo to Dr. Burget and he told him this needs to be done over which is a major setback. To what extent he doesnt know yet, he will see him tomorrow in the office. Either way it could be a 4 to 6 week delay and for sure an additional surgery. He was supposed to get the 2nd forehead flap this time and the rib graft and then he would have the beginnings of a nose again…but delayed. Hes just about at the end of the rope…he needs nose tubes to breathe and has been wearing them for months…no appetite and hes way to skinny and weak, and hes super bummed but who wouldnt be? Going to try and fix that with some good cooking. But there are also some other serious stressors on top of all of this. Ive just been running like crazy trying to keep up with it all. Surgery #15 is scheduled for this Friday. I will try to get back online tonight if I can…he is definitely in an emergency situation on all levels! Hope everyone had a nice holiday.
