SNOWPIERCER: Chris Evans is having a banner year. Not only does he star in the best mainstream action film of the year (Captain America: The Winter Soldier), but he also stars in this, the best indie action film of the year. In a post-apocalyptic future, (is there any other kind?), whats left of humanity lives on an enormous high-speed train that races through a frozen wasteland. The well-to-do live in the front section of the train, while the lower classes live in squalor in the rear. Evans leads a revolt to the front, but gets better than he bargained for. Its a little slow to get going and I wouldve cut maybe five or 10 minutes out of the first half, but once the revolt gets rolling, the movie never looks back, with one imaginative, thrilling sequence after another. Very creatively directed by Bong Joon-Ho. GRADE: A
