SO A MEEK RWANDAN FRIEND OF MINE is contemplating to come to Kenya - TopicsExpress

SO A MEEK RWANDAN FRIEND OF MINE is contemplating to come to Kenya to start a new life because he has been told that Kenya is A Land Of Opportunities akin to America and so he wants me to provide him with a few reality-check tips regarding Kenya. Ive told him to reconsider his expectation if he doesnt want to encounter a rude awakening of the reality of his dream. This is because I believe in the truth but Ive also been careful not to go into nitty-gritty details that would portray my country in extremely bad light, neither do I want to discourage him. Ive simply advised him to continue staying in Kigali because I know him to be a pious and peace-loving man, and because Rwanda has a new, superb infrastructural foundation with the potential of (in fact) becoming one of the most stable and prosperous nations in Africa in the near future. On the other hand, Kenya (though quite optimistic) is an unpredictable nation which has squandered most of its Independence-freedom opportunities and at the moment its generally struggling to regain its social, economic and political dignity as well as its past glory by experimenting on various ambitious projects. Rwandans are a patriotic, friendly, honest and humble people who have endured much atrocious pain, including historical civil injustices and the aftermath of a bloody genocide. And for the last 20 years, theyve been blossoming like a fresh flower in terms of socio-economic development devoid of tribalism, corruption or impunity. Kenyans are an enterprising, resilient, hard-working people but also extremely arrogant, dishonest, suspicious, crafty, and generally complicated. Theyre fragmented along ethnic lines, political persuasions and economic inequality. Corruption, nepotism, impunity and insecurity are some of latest vices weve been contending with. Why lie? In the overview, Ive told him that if he wants to live in a secure, clean and peaceful place, then Rwanda is one of the best countries in Africa to be. But if hes looking for a competitive business enviroment to swim with African shark-tanks and also poverty-stricken people at the same time, then Kenya is a prototype of all these aspects. Make your choice Sir, it depends on what you want at the end of the day, but bear in mind that choices have consequences... Thats all Ive told him.
