SO, I WAS AT HOLT RENFREW TODAY AND... Im the first to admit, I love designer brands. I mean, who doesnt? Its definitely my thing and oh boy, did I buy A LOT of them! Recently, Ive been working pretty hard so I figured I treat myself to something nice today. I drove down to the mall. Lots of sales were happening and a handful of items caught my eye. I tried a few things on and they looked pretty good. Except... For some reason, I had NO DESIRE to buy any of them. Needless to say, I left the mall with no shopping bags. And I was totally cool with it. During my drive back to a coffee shop to get some more work done, I was thinking why I was so unwilling to spend my money. Then I realized... A need that is satisfied no longer fulfills. All I could think of was creating more valuable content for my audience. The amount of money I was going to spend on an outfit couldve been spent on my editor and graphic designer. Inspirational audio books, online training programs for marketing, trips to meet other entrepreneurs I look up to - now were talking! At that moment, I didnt need retail therapy because I found something better... I feel way more complete through passion therapy since my sense of self worth comes from within. Allow me to share a lesson Ive learned...the hard and expensive way! Dont just go through life looking good on the outside while you feel a huge void on the inside. Stop seeking temporary fixes and immerse yourself to find work that matters to you. Trust me on this one, once you find that thing that youre leaping out of bed for, you will feel alive. The greatest thing you can do in life is to live and die knowing that you were able to step into your full potential as a person.
