SO I spent roughly the last 2 days in the Hospital with Joey. There was blood in his stool so we rushed him to the ER at Shands & sure enough something was awry. Turns out his liver was not processing vitamin K at & his life was in danger. I do not say those words lightly. Or for shock factor. He could have bled internally & we would have never known until too late. They had to give him a transfusion of plasma ( the clear portion of the blood) & multiple shots of vitamin K. The plasma was full of what he needed to be able to process the vitamin effectively. I am exhausted. You will notice in the pictures I took at the hospital he looks very yellow. His bilirubin numbers are at a 7 or so. Talking to the transplant team on Wednesday just to get acquainted & plan for the future. They did tell me he has a 90% chance of needing a transplant before he is a year old. I pray my liver is good enough. There is no hesitation that 20% of it is all his if he can use it. I am very tired so if I misspelled anything please forgive me. Joey is home now & very happy! Bless you all.
