SO MANY DEAD - GOATS, ROOSTER AND PEACOCK RESCUED IN WELD COUNTY CRUELTY AND NEGLECT SITUATION. WARNING - GRAPHIC PHOTOS - We were called in to assist with a local animal cruelty/neglect case this weekend here in Weld County. Because this case is still open, we are not able to divulge any details. Please know that we continue to have eyes on the situation and it is being monitored by the Sheriffs department. We arrived to many carcasses of dead animals, goats who died trapped in a small two horse trailer and others still alive having to eat, sleep, pee and poop around those dead day in and day out. a rooster and peacock were living in a small wire cage also containing the dead bodies of another peacock and chicken. They were decaying with these live birds having to find a way to survive living on top of them. Both birds reeked of death when we removed them from the cage. Today, they still reek. Among the carnage of dead animals scattered throughout the property, our sheriffs department was able to work with the property owner to surrender over a few of the live animals on the property this past Saturday. We have in our care, three female goats - all are Nubians, a peacock and a rooster. One of these goats, as you will see in the picture has an old injury to her knee that was never treated. This may cost her her life due to quality of life issues. We are currently treating her medically with the advice of our veterinarian and hoping for the best for her. Watching her try to get around and eat is simply heartbreaking. She is so very sweet. To top it off, she appears to be heavily pregnant.. We will be posting a video of our sweet injured girl here tonight as well, check our facebook page for that. To top it off, one of the goats that was in the trailer dead with these three was a billy. All three nannies who survived appear to be heavily pregnant. We are monitoring the peacock and rooster - before and after pictures are posted here.
