SO WHAT HAS return our cpf PROTEST ACHIEVED? Someone said there were more than 1000 people attended. Thats an achievement considering the last gathering they had at the same place but only a handful of people. It has also goes to show that Gilbert Goh and his 6.9 mil cannot compare with many more millions inside the CPF accounts. So GG is no longer king of HLP and has been replaced by RN/HHH/LSH. Significant achievement is the presence of SDP and also Ng Teck Siong the ousted leader of Reform Party and current Reform Party chief Kenneth Jeyaratnam. Its kind of a show of opposition solidarity, but as expected the notable absence of leaders from Workers Party. Even the PAP has a sizeable presence there. Also achieved, its decoy tactic proved to be workable. How? Though the title of the protest is Return Our CPF, they know this will not materialized and it was never their intention to pushed for the return of CPF. If it is so, then Tan Kin Lian would not have been allowed to speak because he spoke against the very grain of the protest. What it has not achieved, and this may bring some consolation to Gilbert Goh is that this gathering did not hit the record of 5000 set by him. so even as the 6.9 mil had diminished, the millions inside CPF was not able to raise public concern as it hopes to. What it has also not achieved is its failure to bring about good change to Singapores system, and on the contrary it has brought the country, the nation into a culture more adversarial and confrontational. One significant achievement that benefits no Singaporeans is that it has delivered a classic example of Showmanship vs Workmanship and Showmanship prevails.
