SOAP Sample Thursday, Aug. 29, 2013 Read 1 Corinthians 9 S. Verse 26 “Therefore, I do not run like a man running aimlessly; I do not fight like a man beating the air.” O. The Apostle Paul is reminding the church at Corinth that they are the fruit of his labor for the Lord. He wants them to know he sacrificed and worked hard to see them become followers of Jesus. He finds joy in what God has done through him, and he wants them to understand the relationship of the pastor to the church. A. God’s word reminds all of us to give our best effort when it comes to serving God because lives are at stake. Also we must discipline ourselves in this endeavor and serve with excellence because we are serving the Lord of Lords and the King of Kings. Be aware that we are in a battle also, and that our enemy may seek to sideline us or distract us from our purpose. It is good to remind ourselves of the importance of our calling and remain focused, prepared, and faithful with God’s help…because God is faithful. P. Lord, you are my strength and shield. Help me to practice discipline each day by setting aside time to hear from you and focus on your plan. Help me to stay faithful in your service always.
