SOAPing with Refuge Church Psalm 23 This is one of the most - TopicsExpress

SOAPing with Refuge Church Psalm 23 This is one of the most familiar & most memorized scripture... yet until SOAPing tonight I have repeatedly glossed over something important in the first 2 verses. The original text was written in Hebrew, which is a language known for being able to intimately describe the verbs used within. A literal translation of the first part of this verse (verse 2) would be, He continually causes me to lie down in green pastures, with the implication being that at times I do not have the sense to know when it is best to lie down and rest in order to be renewed and refreshed. Therefore, God, as my heavenly Father and Shepherd, “causes me to lie down in green pastures” where He might renew and replenish my spiritual, mental, emotional, and physical strength. (blogs.blueletterbible.org/blb/2012/04/11/biblical-hebrew-applied-psalm-23-part-2/) I think were in a culture that strives to do more, more, more. We become & are surrounded by people that regularly stuffs their schedule until there is no additional time (& then still take requests from other people to encroach upon the time we dont have remaining). Do you realize that there are times that God has to make us lie down & rest & to take that special time with Him? Do you realize that He calls us to leave time in your schedule to allow Him to work? Father, help us to simplify our life, to allow for time in our schedule, space in our budget, & even leftover energy in our tanks to touch the lives of others in need around us. He makes me lie down in green pastures, He leads me beside quiet waters (v2, NIV) #RefugeNixa #NixaMO #LifeRewritten #BeAware
