SOC The wall of the city will (fall) collapse … Joshua 6:1-5 (NIV) 1 Now Jericho was tightly shut up because of the Israelites. No one went out and no one came in. 2 Then the LORD said to Joshua, See, I have delivered Jericho into your hands, along with its king and its fighting men. 3 March around the city once with all the armed men. Do this for six days. 4 Have seven priests carry trumpets of rams horns in front of the ark. On the seventh day, march around the city seven times, with the priests blowing the trumpets. 5 When you hear them sound a long blast on the trumpets, have all the people give a loud shout; then the wall of the city will (fall) collapse and the people will go up, every man straight in. Father Thank You for going before us, setting out Your battle plans, giving them to faithful leaders, then executing them as You have arranged to their full and final completion. An armed city trusting in their fortified walls, the walls had saved them before surely they would save them again. Their God’s were surely called upon to lay waste to this group of marchers outside of their walls. What kind of battle plan called for a group of people to march around the city once a day, surely this was no threat, but on the seventh day—what are they doing, they’ve marched once, twice…all the way to seven times and the noise of those ram horns ending with a loud blast and a shout—that brings the walls crashing down. God’s ways are definitely not the ways of man, yet He is our mighty warrior and on occasion he calls us to this task also. His battle plans are not our own, most of our battles call us to love the unlovable, to forgive those who have spitefully used and abused us and to pray unceasingly for His message to be heard and witnessed to a lost and dying world. Joshua believed God. He believed that God would perform a miracle and give victory over the great city of Jericho, give victory if he did one simple thing: obeyed God. Victory over Jericho was to demonstrate one great truth for all of history: faith in God is the most powerful force in all the world. We can be conquers and victorious over all the enemies of life only if he believe and trust God. Victory is achieved through faith. The walls of Jericho came tumbling down, collapsed because the Israelites believed God and trusted His Word—so can those in our lives if we do likewise. So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God (Romans 10:17). Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth (2 Tim. 2:15). All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness (2 Tim. 3:16). Father thank You for Your faithfulness and calling us to have faith in You, amazing how a pretty bad day can become a great day when we align ourselves with You and Your ways before us. I pray you are marveling at God’s guidance in and around your life and His faithfulness to bring to pass things that you have not thought possible.
