SOCIAL MEDIA CLARIFICATION ::: If any, we should stop pointing finger at any nation. There is no doubt that the Indonesia AirAsia Flight No. QZ8501 from Surabaya to Singapore is an Indonesian flight (and within Indonesia territory so Indonesia will lead the search and rescue) and the flight/jet is registered, regulated, operated and owned by PT Indonesia AirAsia, a local company based in Jakarta with its own set of management to run day to day affairs. However, essentially the planes are on long term leased-to-owned from AirAsia Malaysia (which we call it AirAsia Berhad), the ultimate CEO is Malaysian tycoon Tony Fernandes (he is flying to Surabaya now), the ultimate management/decision makers for Indonesia AirAsia are based in KL and Jakarta, the branding of AirAsia is used which of course is based in KL, and AirAsia Berhad is the single largest shareholder of the company at 49% stake - that is because Indonesia laws dont allow 51% majority in aviation. Most importantly, it doesnt really matter where the airliner originated from, because AirAsia is proud to represent ASEAN as the regions most successful low-cost carrier and therefore this matters to all regional nations especially those with nationalities onboard. PTLM stands in unity with all Malaysians and ASEAN friends in praying for the well being of all passengers and crew members onboard the flight. PS: Likewise the AirAsia Group, PTLM too has similar branding franchise across the ASEAN region and beyond.
