SODELPA PARTY LEADER RO TEIMUMU KEPA STATEMENT OF SUPPORT FOR OUR TROOPS HELD IN THE GOLAN HEIGHTS Our thoughts and prayers are with each and every one of our 43 peacekeepers of the Fiji Military Forces held captive on the Syrian side of the Golan Heights. We pray also for their families and loved ones. I intend to call the Commander of the RFMF to express directly to him our deep concerns and support for efforts by the UN to resolve this crisis. Through the media we have heard from the UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric who stated, “The situation is very fluid. Obviously, we are all concerned.” Under these worrying circumstances I am asking us all to unite, put politics aside, stop what we are doing for the moment and pray for the safe deliverance of those in captivity. They are children of Fiji. They are family. At this time I am asking all of my sisters here with me at the Catholic Women’s League Conference in Solevu, Bua, to join will all concerned citizens of Fiji in praying for their speedy and safe release.
