SODELPA: RELEASE OF THE AUDITED ACCOUNTS OF GOVERNMENT TO DEC 31 2012 STATEMENT No 20: DATE ISSUED: August 18 2014 The release of the Audited Accounts of Government on the Ministry of Finances Website for the periods 2006 to 2012 is a welcomed and positive move said SODELPA party Leader Ro Teimumu Kepa. She said, while SODELPA officials were trying to determine whether it is an official release of the actual Audit or the work of a whistleblower, the fact that it has been released is welcomed. Ro Teimumu said it would now allow all interested parties to scrutinize and comment on the state of the government’s finances and more importantly its compliance or otherwise with laid down regulations and procedures. Given that Prime Minister Bainimarama and AG Khaiyum are both on record saying these documents will be released to the next sitting of the parliament, Ro Teimumu said the people are entitled to be told about this reversal of its position. Whoever is responsible for its release, SODELPA is happy that it has been released, and Ro Teimumu said once her finance committee has had the opportunity to scrutinize the Audited accounts, further statements will be issued.
