SOLOMOS SQUARE - UPDATE There is new data in the serial Solomos square bio-climatismos. The work began at the end of August, with the new Mayor taking office as of 1st September. All the tiles of the square had been removed when Mr Kolokotsas [new Mayor] discovered that the funding through ESPA was not available. Since then he has been pushing the Ministry of Development to guarantee the necessary funds. As of 01/01/2015 the amount of 100.000 Euros was secured which ensured payment to the contractor, giving assurance that the work will continue [and not be left as is for the next few years, as Mr Kolokotsas fears]. The study for the square looks like it is going to be reviewed and from bio-climatic will become just reconstruction of the square with the tiles and seats being changed, costing a lot less but with the same architectural result. Mr Kolokotsas is pushing for the work to be completed, and back to the Zakynthians by 31/03/2015 in time for the Holy Week and the Good Friday service that is held there.
