SOLVE TWO OF THE COLD WARS GREATEST MYSTERIES Dag - TopicsExpress

SOLVE TWO OF THE COLD WARS GREATEST MYSTERIES Dag Hammarskjöld, UN Secretary-General, was killed when his plane crashed in the former Belgian Congo in September 1961. Now 54 years later a new investigation by a UN Panel of Experts into Hammarskjöld’s death - the first unsolved mystery - is finally about to start. The second of the Cold War’s greatest unsolved mysteries involves Bernt Carlsson, UN Assistant Secretary-General, who was targeted on Pan Am Flight 103 and died at Lockerbie in December 1988. In the intervening 26 years, the UN has not investigated Bernt Carlsson’s death. UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon should therefore extend the remit of the new UN Inquiry to cover the unsolved mystery deaths of both UN officials Dag Hammarskjöld and Bernt Carlsson.
