SOME MT BULLER HISTORY This image of the view from the Mt Buller Alpine Chapel bell tower brings to mind the history of the Chapel and the chapel bell. The non denominational Chapel, established in 1993, was funded entirely by many private donations, and built completely by voluntary labour - mainly the Italian Alpini community co-ordinated by the Grollo family. The CHAPEL BELL was donated jointly by three pioneering Mt Buller couples – Hans & Lotte Grimus (Hotel Pension Grimus), Bob & Christine Fleming (Koflers Hutte), George & Elena Vassilopoulos (original owners of the Abom), as a gesture of thanks for their many years of friendship. Each time the bell sounds out across the village it should serve as a reminder to the current and future generations of these three families of the long and close relationship to each other and Mt Buller. The bell was designed and made by Bagot Bellfoundries in North Adelaide. It is cast bronze weighing 135kg with a 617mm mouth diameter, has musical note E, is fitted for manual swing chiming, carries a decorative band at the shoulder, with raised lettering inscription in the waist of the bell as depicted in the images.
