SOME OF THE ASTOUNDING IMAGES FROM THE 3D ANIMATION MOVIE - KOCHADAIIYAAN (English: The king with a long, curly mane) is a 2014 Indian Tamil motion capture 3D computer-animated period film directed by Soundarya R. Ashwin & written by K. S. Ravikumar. The film features Rajinikanth enacting & voicing 3 lead roles, whilst Deepika Padukone, R. Sarathkumar, Aadhi, Shobana, Rukmini Vijayakumar, Jackie Shroff & Nassar enacting & voice supporting their respective characters. The film has cinematography handled by Padmesh whereas the music & original score is composed by A. R. Rahman. Shooting for the film was completed by the end of Feb 2013, while post-prod work took place in the US, HK, China & Faceware Technologies in the UK. The film released worldwide on 23 May 2014] in Tamil as well as other languages including Hindi, Telugu, Japanese, Bhojpuri,Bengali, Marathi, Punjabi & English. KOCHADAIIYAAN is based on Pandiyan king, Kochadaiiyan Ranadhiran(710-735 A.D). He was the son & successor of Arikesari Maravarman. He had waged aggressive wars against the Cheras & Cholas & defeated them. Kochadaiiyaan made on a fraction of budget of Avatar Superstar Rajinikanth-starrer Tamil period-drama Kochadaiiyaan has been made on a budget of Rs.125 crore, says its producer J Murali Manohar, who feels it cant be compared with Avatar or Tin Tin as these films are made on a larger budget. Kochadaiiyaan marks the directorial debut of Soundarya, daughter of Rajinikanth. It is said to be Indias first motion capture photo-realistic 3D animated film. Our film is made on a budget of Rs.125 crore and it took us 2 years. Avatar was made on a budget of Rs.3,000 crore & was completed in 5 years, while Tin Tin cost about Rs.4,000 crore & also took about 5 years. Look at the budget & time, we cant compare Kochadaiiyaan with these films, Manohar said.
