As if the name Fijian, stolen from the natives of Fiji and nationalised to call every Tom, Dick and Harry, is not enough, the current regime has further added salt to the wound by disallowing the registration of the tittle Ratu and Adi to those entitled at the Register of Births and Deaths Office. One would ask as to who gave the authority and directives to the department to carry out this robbery of the iTaukei birth right? (Military ranks are bestowed and are not hereditary and carries no relevance if the holders are no longer in military service.) This directive at the Register Generals Office is an unpardonable sin which contravenes the provisions of the ILO Convention (No. 169) on Indigenous Peoples and Tribal Rights and the United Nation Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (2007). The titles of Ratu and Adi are hereditary and removing them is akin to the ideology which perpetrated the Stolen Race and the terra nullius (land grabbing) of Australia. The native Fijians should wake up to the conspiracies that are taking place already to eradicate our race as well as our land. First our name, second the removal of our peak body, the BLV or GCC, thirdly the removal of the entranced section of the constitution that protect our land and now the elimination of the birth right of our chiefs from the VKB. All native Fijian institutions are under threat and some are already being reformed without consultations. What is next?? Your vote in the next general election should be for the party and people that are going to stop all these heritage thievery and restore the status....
