SOMETHING DOESN’T ADD UP IN THE KHEDIRA TO ARSENAL REPORTS I took to Twitter to find out what had developed over the few hours I was away from the internet and this is what I learned [mostly via @Sport_Witness] The deal was imminent when the valuation fee was agreed upon. This was the initial delay to this pointless saga. But then collapsed in a space of hours due to Khedira demanding just over double what he earns now.Currently Sami Khedira earns - 96k GDB Gross p/w (50k GDB p/w after tax) -121k EUR Gross p/w (63k EUR p/w after tax)Arsenal are reportedly willing to offer - 150k GDB p/w gross (82.5k GDB p/w after tax) - 189k EUR p/w gross (104 EUR p/w after tax)But Khedira is demanding - 200k GDB p/w gross (110k GDB p/w after tax) - 250k EUR p/w gross (112.5k EUR p/w after tax)Khedira wants to become Arsenals marquee signing & the wages hes demanding. Most of the reports in the UK media stem from one piece in Sport, the Barcelona-loving paper in Spain. The claims being made are that Arsenal are prepared to meet the player’s demands of €150k AFTER TAX. Arsenal are willing to pay Real Madrid around €30m for the German who has one year left on his contract. It seems that Real Madrid are ready to sell the newly-crowned World Champion and have already recruited Toni Kroos for £20m. The Spanish club are not prepared to meet Khedira’s wage demands and the player has, therefore, refused to sign a new contract. Arsenal, flush with cash, have started paying large transfer fees so I think we can say that it’s within reason that they would pay €30m for a player of Khedira’s calibre, however, the wages – €150k per week AFTER TAX – are so far out of Arsenal’s comfort zone that it’s just not realistic no matter what way you look at it. The reports last week claimed just this – Arsenal were happy to pay the fee asked by Real Madrid but not the wages wanted by the player. Had it been a case of him wanting €150k gross then I could see the deal being a lot closer than it currently stands. Will Arsenal sign Khedira? I don’t know. What I do know, however, is they won’t be signing him on the terms currently being thrown around in the press. YOUR OPINION? #ADMIN
